Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Oevre collects when you use the app, how it is used, and the choices you have. A summary appears in section 1.
In short
- Oevre has no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking.
- Your notes, drawings and recordings are not uploaded to Oevre’s servers.
- Handwriting search and lecture transcription run on your iPad.
- When you use Ask, an image of the part of the page you boxed, and of the page it’s on, is sent to Oevre’s server, where AI writes the answer. Live’s write-ups send the transcript the same way. We don’t store what was sent or the answer.
- Our server keeps your account, your plan and a record of what each request cost, so we can apply your plan’s allowance.
What stays on your iPad
Your library (notes, typed documents, pages, drawings, imported files and scans) is stored on your iPad, or in your own iCloud Drive if you choose that in Settings. Apple’s terms cover iCloud Drive. Oevre’s servers never receive your library.
Live recordings and their audio are stored the same way and never leave your iPad. The transcript is made on your iPad by Apple’s speech recognition. Handwriting is read on your iPad by Apple’s text recognition, so search works without sending your pages anywhere.
What is sent to answer you
Ask and Live are answered by AI through Oevre’s server. When you send an Ask, Oevre takes an image of the part you boxed and of the page it’s on, and sends it to our server with your question, if you typed one, and the earlier messages in that panel. When you save a live, Oevre sends its transcript and your flags to write the write-up and explain each flag. Asking a live a question sends its transcript and your question.
Our server checks your plan and passes the request to the AI service that writes the answer. Neither keeps the content of the request or the answer once it’s written, and the AI service handles it under commercial terms that don’t allow it to be used to train AI models.
Answers are saved in your note on your iPad, like the rest of your work.
Your account
Ask and Live need an account. You sign in with Apple or with a one-time code sent to your email. We keep:
- an account ID, and the email address your sign-in method shares with us
- the first name, age and college you give in the welcome tour, if you do (each can be skipped)
- your plan, when it renews or ends, and your time zone (so allowances reset at the right time)
- for each AI request: when it happened, what kind it was, which model answered, how many tokens it used and what it cost
We use this only to run your account and apply your plan. We don’t sell it or share it for advertising.
Payments
Plus and Pro are bought through Apple. We never see your card details. Apple sends us a signed record of the purchase, which our server checks to set your plan, and tells our server when a subscription renews, ends or is refunded.
Who else is involved
- Apple: the App Store, payments, Sign in with Apple, iCloud Drive, and the on-device speech and text recognition.
- An AI service: writes answers, write-ups and flag explanations from what Oevre’s server sends it.
- Supabase: hosts our server, accounts and usage records.
- An email provider sends sign-in codes if you sign in with email.
Your choices
You can use the whole notebook without an account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Account › Delete account, which removes your account, your email and your plan from our server. The usage records (dates, kinds of request and costs, with no content) stay for the rest of the subscription period, no longer tied to you, so that a plan’s allowance can’t be reset by deleting and re-creating an account. Your notes stay on your iPad until you delete them. To ask about your data, contact us.
Age
Oevre is for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger; if you believe someone under 18 has made an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
