We think students should do their own thinking.
And that the right tools enable more comprehensive, intuitive learning.
Where this started
I’ve studied in libraries all over my campus, and everywhere I look, people are using AI to study. Some have an AI chat open on one side of the screen and their notes on the other. I started asking people how they use it, and what I’ve found is that people who actually want to learn the material develop a method of interacting with AI to help them actually learn. I’ve actually noticed myself doing this as well.
And there’s a pattern across these strategies: to learn is to struggle, and to struggle is to do it yourself. AI is built to be as helpful as possible, and that’s exactly why it can get in the way of learning. Telling it not to give you the answer doesn’t fix this, because the answer is always one prompt away. What’s needed is an interface built to support the learning that already happens in real classrooms.
So I didn’t try to get AI to solve our problems. I started with something we already have and tried to make it better: the lecture. I wanted to create a tool that makes lectures actually useful, even if it’s the one you typically can’t keep up with. I made the tool I wanted for myself, and I’m excited to share it with the world.
